Article Abstract:
The Dutch IP telecoms operator, KPNQwest, will double its staff in France in 2000. KPNQwest France, which plans to build a huge (10,000-m2 surface) cybercentre in France, is expanding its Internet offer to large businesses with an international size. FRANCE: 9 TELECOM DATA TRANSMISSION OFFER FOR FIRMS
Article Abstract:
9 Telecom targets a wide scope of small and medium firms (from very small companies to companies with a staff of 500) with a new data transmission offer. The offer, supposed to meet their high-speed requirements, is based on France Telecom's TurboDSL service which supplies its customers with a guaranteed throughput. The French carrier, which keeps promoting its frame relay offer (9 Frame Relay) for companies with over four sites, expects to increase its customer portfolio to 50,000 companies (of which data transmission should account for 20%) instead of 20,000 today. The offer will be available in 500 cities and towns by 25 February 2001 (in the Paris area and other regions easy to connect to 9 Telecom's backbone network), worth one half of the market of companies in France.

FRANCE: KPNQWEST TESTS LOCAL LOOP IN LYON AREA
Article Abstract:
KPNQwest will soon propose, wherever possible in France, a local radio loop service as part of FirstLink, its high speed Internet access offer dedicated to medium firms with a minimum staff of 200. Quality of service will remain unchanged but the monthly subscription fee should be halved to around FFr 8,000 for a 2-MBPS connection rate. The telecom operator has started local radio loop tests in the region of Lyon (France). Radio access is provided by Squadran, the new name for Fortel after LDCom entered the company's capital.
