FRANCE: INFOCOM'S GOALS

Infocom intends to continue the development of its promotions announcements service on Internet (www.super-promo.net). This offer of about 600 coupons available on the net at present is expected to expand geographically. Advertisers can have a space for 365 days for a subscription of FFr 300 per month before tax, without the possibility of termination. Two possibilities are available to people using this site: purchasing products on promotion by fax or mail, or printing out a coupon to be used in the participating stores. Infocom is advertising on France Telecom's electronic directory in order to make itself known. The company has also broadcast a spot on France 3 Sud and sent a presentation to its service to more than 7.5mn employees.

Maggi and Knorr have designed the 'ideal' way to display stocks, cubes and other flavourings in French super and hypermarkets. Consumers needs a stronger clarity in this department which concentrates hundreds of references (in a hypermarket) including salt, pepper, herbs, spices, etc. In July 1999, the offer in these products went up 13% including a 19.8% progression in hypermarkets. Altogether, Maggi, Knorr and Ducros corner 90% of the total sales, with Maggi leading the market with a 55% share by volume and 61% by value in the year ended in June 1999, followed by Knorr with 25.7% and 21% respectively.

FRANCE: SOCOPA INTRODUCED SPECIAL HOLIDAY KIT

Socopa has introduced a Special Holiday Kit of Filet de Boeuf, for four people. It comes in a paper sack and can be prepared in 15 minutes. It consists of a 400-gram cooked beef fillet, a 300-gram block of meat paste in puff pastry, 160-grams of stuffing, and a 140-gram sachet of sauce with morel mushrooms. The entire kit is priced at FFr 100 to FFr 120.
