Ambi-Pur (Sara Lee), the leading player in air fresheners which need an electrical connection with a 46% share by value (followed by Air Wick with 39% and Brise with 15%), has launched a new fragrance, Soleil Absolu. Innovation is a key element to the development of sales in air fresheners, whose turnover reached FFr 1.127bn in the yearly period ending in October 1999, up 6.3% from the same year-earlier period. One out of five air fresheners sold through hypermarkets is an 'electrical' product. Scented candles is another dynamic sector (up 12.3%) where Johnson recently launched a number of new products.

FRANCE: REFRESH DE CAJOLINE FROM LEVER

The detergents group, Lever, is launching a new clothes care and odour neutralising product, Refresh de Cajoline. Approved by Woolmark, the spray removes odours on clothes by evaporation, and is presented in a cosmetic like transparent spray bottle. Available in 100ml and 300ml, it will retail at around FFr 9.90, and FFr 18.90. The launch will be accompanied with an advertising campaign, including a TV campaign in November 2000.

France: Lever enriches its wipe range

Lever, the leading player in the wipe market in France with a 35.4% share by value, is launching two new products under its existing brand names, Cif and Domestos. Cif now offers a double action wipe which includes an abrasive side, in order to seduce those who do not buy such products because they think wipes are not efficient enough. Domestos is now available in a bigger format worth two packs of 40 wipes.
