FRANCE: THE P-2200 PRINTER FROM APOLLO

The computer printer maker, Apollo (HP), has launched its new P-2200 colour printer for beginners, which has transparent features with colours and curves, aiming to attract a young clientele. It only has 600x300 resolution for black and white and 300x300 in colour, and has an average printing speed of 6 black and white pages per minute, and three colour pages per minute. It also features an option for a photo cartridge which improves colour printing. This inkjet technology printer however is not USB compatible. Apollo's P-2200 should retail at around FFr 490.

FRANCE: NEW SONY VAIO PORTABLE COMPUTER

Sony is launching a 2-part lightweight portable computer, the Vaio SR21k, with a Pentium III 650 Megahertz processor, a 10-inch screen, and 64 Megabytes RAM extendable to 256 Megabytes RAM, and a 10 Gigabyte hard disk, costing FFr 14,200. The device weighs 1.36 kilogrammes, without its base, which has a keyboard, a CD-ROM and loudspeakers. It does not have an integral floppy disk drive, and just has a USB port and a PCMCIA slot, to which a CD-ROM drive can be attached. It also has an internal modem and a Memory Stick slot.

FRANCE: NEW MULTI-FUNCTIONAL MACHINE BY BROTHER

Brother has presented MFC 9850, a new multi-functional machine which retails at FFr 7,000 in France (taxes not included). The machine handles laser printing (with a 600 x 600 resolution and speed of 12 pages/minute), fax (14,400 bps modem, 400 pages and up to 100 phone numbers in memory) and copying (12 pages/mn too) tasks.
