Article Abstract:

Italian textile group Fingen has joined with Richemont, a Swiss-based tobacco and luxury goods concern, to gain control of French luxury goods group Van Cleef and Arpels (VCA). The Arpels family, three branches of which had been in dispute about VCA's future, will hold two seats on the board. Fingen had sought to gain control of VCA earlier, being very interested in the latter's core jewellery and watchmaking activities, but the crises in Russia and Asia made it impossible for the first deal to go ahead.
