The burger market is dominated by McDonald's, which increased is value share to 51.8% in 1997 from 49% in 1996. The burger market accounted for 74.5% of fast food advertising in 1996, with the pizza sector accounting for 10.4% and the chicken fast food market accounting for 13.6% in 1996. McDonald's spends almost 30 million pound sterling per year on advertising.
