Fiat will reorganize in line with its four brands

Fiat S.p.A. of Italy has reorganized, forming four companies named after its four automobile brands, Fiat Automobiles S.p.A., Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A., Lancia Automobiles S.p.A. and Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles S.p.A. The current executives running the divisions will become the Chief Executive Officers of the new subsidiaries. Fiat S.p.A. is being renamed to become Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A.

VW raises stake in MAN, seeking a three-way deal

Volkswagen AG of Germany has increased its investment in MAN AG also of Germany to ownership of 29.9 percent. The move will increase the liklihood of a merger between MAN AG, Scania AB of Sweden and Volkswagen AG. The German automobile maker is also planning to increase its work week hours to 38 hours from 35 hours.
