A brief description on the new and largely spontaneous fund-raising effort that was observed throughout the world after the Asian tsunami disaster is presented. One of the groups of the peoples and communities around the world is the international architectural community, which has reacted with unprecedented speed to the emergency.

The great Poundbury debacle

The residents of Poundbury created controversy by not accepting the proposal of a medium-density apartment block by local architect Lionel Gregory. At worst this would damaged the Princes' initiation in government.
