Five shops at the Post for account

Five Toronto, Ontario-based advertising agencies are vying for the National Post's creative account, according to the daily newspaper's VP of sales and marketing Ron Clark. These agencies are The Farm, Holmes and Lee, TBWA Chiat/Day, MacLaren McCann and Taxi Advertising and Design. Initiative Media, also of Toronto, has already won the newspaper's media account. Negotiations with the agencies started in Dec 1999.

Buoyant media spend expected in '99
Article Abstract:
Several Canadian advertising agency executives predict that media spending by advertisers will increase in 1999, but not as much as in the previous year. Rates in all media are also expected to increase. Television and radio rates are expected to increase by 3% to 5%, while magazine rates will go up 2% to 4%. The highest rate increase is out of home, with rates speculated to rise by 5% to 8%.
