The declining television air time availability is having negative effect on television advertising in Vancouver, Canada. The viability of television as an advertising medium is threatened by high costs and low returns as advertisers pay more for an ever-declining conventional television audience. To address this problem, the number of conventional television stations should be increased and access to local television viewers on specialty channels should be provided.

Canadian Airlines brand to die

Canadian Airlines will no longer exist once it comes to an agreement with its creditors. The airline's vp of marketing Michael Beckerman said that when the settlement is completed, they will proceed with their merger with Air Canada. Air Canada's ad agency, Marketel/McCann-Erickson will become the merged firm's agency of record (AOR), while Canadian's AOR, Gee Jeffery & Partners will provide strategic planning advise during the merger.
