Flames shoot for new sponsorships
Article Abstract:
NHL club Calgary Flames will not resort to a major mass-media campaign but would revert to its tried-and-tested grassroots campaign to win new corporate sponsorships, according to Garry McKenzie, its VP for marketing and sales. He admits, though, that it would be an enormous challenge the club owners's requirement of selling 14,000 season tickets before Jun 30, 2000. The Flames' current financial woes were aggravated when Canadian Airlines withdrew its 20-year, C$20-million sponsorship of the Olympic Saddledome.
