The Ramos legacy: stability, reform
Article Abstract:
Outgoing Philippine President Fidel Ramos leaves behind a legacy of stability and reform as his term of office ends on Jun 30, 1998. Political stability served as President Ramos's major contribution, a huge achievement in a nation once governed by the cronies of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos. Under his term, the Philippines joined the World Trade Organization and monopolies in agriculture and telecommunications were demolished.
