German industrial output fizzles: U.K. sales rise

Construction and manufacturing industries in Germany posted decreased production by .4 percent in June 2006. Economic forecasts for the European country however remain strong. In the United Kingdom, food and drink sales were up in July, due to unusually hot weather.

Cement demand paves path to takeovers

The cement industry in the United States is responding to demand in the construction industry. Foreign investment in the cement industry is down although there is continuing interest from Latin America. It is a sellers market and consolidations are up.
