Ford reports record sales for August, 8.1% gain

Ford Motor Co. posted record sales for the period of August 1999. The car maker was helped by the same trends that increased overall sales in the automobile industry in August by 20%. Ford announced that it produced up to 349,855 automobiles and trucks. This represented an improvement of 8.1% over the same period in 1998. Ford's car sales rose 10.7% to 97,798 automobiles.

Ford Motor Co. posted a rise of 4.4%, which comes out to 313,906 units, in its total vehicle sales in the United States for the month of November 2001. General Motors posted a 13% increase in new car and truck sales, amounting to 363,721 units, for the same period.
