Gambling is a profitable business in the UK, contributing one billion pounds sterling annually to government revenue and employing over 200,000 people. The British spend as much as 13 billion pounds sterling each year on gambling and gaming. Lottery tickets are sold in shops and post offices and it is estimated that the National Lottery could have an annual turnover of more than three billion pounds sterling.

Fractal floods
Article Abstract:
Cornell University researcher Don Turcotte and other flood forecasters believe that flood distribution is best explained by fractal analysis, rather than exponential analysis. Turcotte's research on the flow rates of US rivers over half-century periods supports his fractal approach.
