Equant plans global network for voice, data

Equant N.V. is scheduled to launch a voice and data network service for corporate customers that will reach 50 countries. The new network will provide a more reliable alternative to the internet while allowing companies to lower phone rates 30%-50%.

Equant's shares retreat on plans for stock offer

Equant NV saw its shares lose 2.3% in value in Paris and 7.9% in New York during the late afternoon following the company's announcement that it was planning a secondary offering. Equant, a telecommunications firm based in the Netherlands, is planning an offering of approximately 35 million shares. The offering could raise as much as 2.4 billion euros ($2.78 billion). Equant said that it has filed a preliminary prospectus with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for the offering.
