France makes up own rules - says Dutch beam operator

Jan de Boer operator of the Dutch-owned and Belgian registered beam trawler, Antonia Martruida, discusses the inconvenience in fishing caused by French authorities on English Channel. Boer's trawler was detained for 48 hours and fined 35,000 Euros. One of the charges leveled by French authorities were against the trawler Skipper Willem de Boer was that the vessel did not have square mesh panels. Other charges included recording live weight of fish in the logbook. The trawler is exempt from all these provisions.

United States based Orbimage Holdings Inc. is acquiring Denver based Space Imaging. The merged company will be called GeoEye. The company provides satellite images, including images of plankton distribution, directly to fishing vessels.
