Fresenius to buy Renal Care of U.S. for $3.5 billion

Fresenius AG of Germany is to acquire Renal Care Group Inc. of the United States for $3.5 billion. The kidney-dialysis products and services company is the largest global provider, planning to consolidate its ranking in the $50 billion global market and posted revenue earnings of $6.23 billion last year. Renal Care Group Inc. posted revenue earnings of $1.35 billion last year.

Bayer is asked to suspend Trasylol sales
Article Abstract:
German pharmaceutical firm Bayer AG has been requested to withdraw Trasylol, a coagulant drug, from the market until more data becomes available regarding the drug's safety. One clinical study has indicated Trasylol could be linked to a 50% increased risk of death than rival medications. Trasylol had worldwide sales totaling $223.5 mil in 2006.
