Full ingredient disclosure rules out
Article Abstract:
Health Canada has released its Planned Nutritional Labelling Policy in Nov 2000 that orders full disclosure of the ingredient makeup of prepackaged food and beverage products sold in Canada. The mandate came after a two- year-long review of nutritional labelling policies. The policy, however, exempts small businesses due to the relatively high cost of labelling, foods sold only at restaurants and food services, foods packaged at retail, foods that carry little or no calories and all 13 nutrients, and fresh fruit and vegetables.
