GALFAR TO SET UP Rs10-CRORE CENTRE IN KERALA
Article Abstract:
The Galfar group plans to set up the largest convention centre at Maradu in Kerala at a cost of Rs10 crore to boost tourism industry in the state. This Cochin Convention Centre is expected to make Kochi a major destination for conferences and conventions and will be suitable for exhibitions, cultural programmes and parties. The Centre, which can house 1,600 people, is fully air-conditioned with modern conferencing equipment. It has already attracted around 50 reservations till now. The centre will be managed by a group company of Galfar, M Far Hotels Ltd. M Far Hotels has tied up with Le Meridien to set up a five-star deluxe hotel nearby.(gsh)

HORTICORP TO REDEFINE VEGETABLE RETAILING IN KERALA
Article Abstract:
The Kerala State Horticultural Products Development Corporation Ltd (Horticorp) is setting up 140 supermarkets called Sasya and 500 mini retail outlets named Harita for vegetable retailing in Kerala. The supermarkets will have cold storage facilities so that consumers can get provisions and vegetables in farm-fresh conditions. It has already started 20 Sasya units and 75 Harita outlets in the central and southern parts of the state. Horticorp plans to operate with a 30 percent margin and give 12 percent to retailers. (khr)

KERALA ALLOTS LAND TO HNL FOR PLANTATIONS
Article Abstract:
Hindustan Newsprint Ltd (HNL) has been allotted 1,000 hectares of land by the government of Kerala for the development of captive plantations. HNL has now got 2,500 hectares of land from the state. The government has agreed to give a total of 5,600 hectares of land to HNL for the commercial cultivation of pulpwood. The output from the land will take care of one-third of HNL's raw material requirements. (khr)
