GM Europe shows signs of upturn

General Motors Europe is beginning to see a turn around in automobile sales in Europe. General Motors Europe Chairman Frederick Henderson said "There's a view the tide is beginning to turn." The automobile company is still forecasting a loss of approximately $500 million in Europe this year and will not give financial projections for 2006.

Volkswagen considers second North American plant

Second-quarter net profit for Volkswagen AG increased 42% to reach $1.68 bil, due primarily to reduced costs and improved sales. The company is considering building a new plant in North America to increase its local presence for US customers.
