GM keeps commitment despite Olympics scandal

General Motors Corp. (GM) announced that it would continue its present marketing plans amidst the widening Olympic's corruption scandal. The majority of sponsors have declined to comment on the scandal or have called for reforming the International Olympic Committee. GM is a sponsor of the US Olympic Committee. The car maker is planning to spend approximately $1 billion on the Olympics.

Ford's September car sales beat expectations

Ford Motor Co. posted car sales that were slightly higher than expected for the month of September 1999. Analysts had predicted reduced or flat sales during the month. Ford posted sales of 329,176 units in the US during the month. This was an improvement of 1% compared to the same month in 1998. Ford posted 326,941 unit sales in September 1998.
