Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd (CFCL) was promoted by Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd. The company is one of the largest urea producers in India with a 2,250 tonnes per day plant at Gadepan in Rajasthan. The company is poised to make losses if the Hanumantha Rao panel recommendations are approved. CFCL's actual cost is Rs7,000 per tonne whereas the panel has asked for subsidy calculation based on Notional Reference Price of Rs6,500. The company also plans to double its urea capacity. Fall in availability of natural gas and price rise of naphtha may affect the earnings of CFCL. (nv)

Gujarat State Fertilizer Corporation (GSFC) is a leader in the Indian caprolactam market. It also makes polymers and fibres. The company has a 0.15 million tonnes per annum DAP plant, a 0.315 million tonnes per year ammonia plant and a 0.364 million tonnes per year urea plant. Besides this, it has a 0.256 million tonnes per annum complex fertiliser plant at Vadodara. The company is in the process of rising its urea capacity. GSFC will be a major gainer from the Hanumantha Rao committee recommendations, if put into practice. (nv)
