Russian government sets plans to nationalize Yukos's chief unit
Article Abstract:
The Russian government has announced that it will form a new state oil company from the OAO Yukos subsidiary Yuganskneftegas. The subsidiary has been Yukos's core oil producing operation and produces as much as 1% of the world's crude. The government plans to offer a minority stake in the new company to China National Petroleum Corp., giving China the opportunity to gain greater access to foreign fuel reserves.
