Merger and acquisition advisers are facing new challenges as private capital flows into emerging markets rise. They must now find ways of assisting clients seeking to invest in emerging companies, and must also advise governments selling off state-owned businesses. Advisers are likely to encounter a number of market-specific difficulties when assessing the quantitative and qualitative aspects of valuation in emerging markets. In particular, they must ensure that the valuation process reflects the risks associated with that particular market.
