Go in peace
Article Abstract:
Business people can preserve their health and well-being even if they have to travel frequently by learning how to avoid risks, to travel in comfort, and to appreciate travelling. Avoiding health risks entails taking measures such as getting immunization shots, checking the potability of water, and eating foods that will not upset the stomach. Business travellers can make a journey more healthful by choosing their means of transport that is most comfortable for them. For instance, travelling by train provides more space and pleasant work environment, while travelling by car would enable travellers to proceed at their own pace. Travelling by sea or river, on the other hand, gives travellers an opportunity to relax and refresh their creative abilities. Finally, healthy travel means learning to enjoy the experience. Travelling presents an opportunity for business people to recapture that child-like sense of discovery and wonder.

The body clock
Article Abstract:
Circadian rhythms, commonly known as biorhythms, can strongly influence the emotional and biological states of individuals. The influence exerted by biorhythms thus provides several interesting observations that could prove significant to the medical and business communities. For one, it has been established that the blood pressure and blood concentration levels of individuals change throughout a 24-hour period. The sensitivity of the human body to drugs, surgery and radiotherapy also varies within a 24-hour cycle. The influence of circadian rhythms to sleep patterns likewise has important implications in business, particularly for companies whose employees work on shifts. A potash mining facility that took into consideration these biorhythms by allowing workers to readjust their body clocks to new shifts resulted in increased employee attendance and productivity.

Avoid 'Bogart's cure' for nasty snake bites
Article Abstract:
In visiting the more exotic locales, traveling executives need to be more savvy about some of the commonly misconceived first aid techniques, such as gashing a snake bite and attempting to suck out the venom. A tourniquet above the bite is useful but should only be attempted with the supervision of trained medical personnel. Snake-bite victims should also avoid aspirins. It is suggested that fish stings be treated by by submerging the injured part of the body into hot water. The heat will render the venom inactive.
