Goldman to offer online trading in stocks

Goldman Sachs Inc. announced it is starting PrimeAccess, an online stock-trading platform that will compete with Jiway, the stock exchange controlled by Sweden's OM Gruppen AB, for business from online investors. PrimeAccess targets brokers that want to provide for their customers low-cost and easy access to worldwide equity markets, but it will also execute trades on several bourses, at first including six European bourses and the U.S. markets.

AOL Europe offers free U.K. net access
Article Abstract:
AOL Europe has launched a new Internet service in Great Britain. The new service will be offered free of charge. AOL Europe's move is an attempt to compete with the growing number of high-street retailers that already provide Internet services. The Netscape Online software needed to gain access to the service will be made available throughout the UK starting September 1, 1999.
