The incarnation of Graphisoft's ArchiCAD is nine versions old making it the best of building information modeling applications and is designed for architects to link the sometimes parallel and often serial processes of 3D conceptual design and 2D drawing production. On the other hand, competitors such as Autodesk's Revit allows its users to import any geometrical form before turning it into smart parametric elements thus making it a stiff competitor.

The latest version named AutoCAD 2005 was launched in March 2004, but as there was no change in its file format, some new features and functions were added to improve its look and feel. Cadtest's new version was launched in September 2004, which has new exercises and an improved set of instructions.
