LVMH raises its stake in Gucci Group to 34%

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA has increased its share of Gucci Group NV to 34%. The move is part of LVMH's attempt to gain control of Gucci, a leather goods and fashion brand based in Italy. Before the deal, LVMH held a 27% share of Gucci. LVMH has been looking for takeover deals in order to compensate for its losses at its DFS Group Ltd. unit. With the newest deal, LVMH has now spent as much as $1.44 billion to raise its share in Gucci.
