H-P appoints Fiorna CEO, President
Article Abstract:
Palo Alto, Calif.-based Hewlett-Packard Co. has named Carleton Fiorina as its new chief executive officer and president. Fiorina, which had been the director of global services for Lucent Technologies, is the first woman to be appointed to a major publicly held corporation. Industry analysts have said that H-P's pick represents a commitment to spurring its sagging sales, which have been hurt by the continuing Asian economic crisis. H-P has been targeting the Internet through its new "e-services" ad campaign.
