HUDCO: OPERATIONS IN KARNATAKA AND GOA
Article Abstract:
In 1997-98, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation sanctioned loans worth Rs401 crore for both housing and urban infrastructure projects in Karnataka and Rs46 crore for similar projects in Goa. The total loan released for Karnataka amounted to Rs284 crore and for Goa more than Rs16 crore. Some of the major housing projects sanctioned in Karnataka during 1997-98 include Rs67.72 crore for Social Housing Programmes of Government of Karnataka covering Ashraya Rural and Urban Housing Schemes in various districts and Rs22.84 crore for Sites and Services Schemes to develop residential layouts with comprehensive infrastructural services for the general public at Channapatna, Mysore and Hubli-Dharwad. Some of the major urban infrastructure projects sanctioned in Karnataka during the year include Rs60 crore to the Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for completion of various on-going projects, Rs65.55 crore for 6 water supply augmentation projects in towns of Raichur, Mangalore, Davangere, Basavakalyana, Basavanabagewadi and Harappanahally through Karnataka Urban Water Supply & Drainage Board, Rs36 crore for construction of a tertiary treatment plant at Vrishbhavathy valley and Rs19 crore for a tertiary treatment plant at Yelahanka in Bangalore through BWSSB. HUDCO sanctioned loans worth Rs27.77 crore for the mega city projects of Bangalore in 1997-98. Some of these include flyover from Sirsi Circle to Town Hall through BCC, intermediate ring road between Koramangala and Airport road in Bangalore through BDA, shifting of the Iron & Steel market from Bangalore city to Kondasapura through BDA and improvement of water supply systems within the Bangalore city through BWSSB. HUDCO AIMS AT Rs900-CR SANCTIONS THIS FISCAL
Article Abstract:
The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has aimed at sanctions of Rs900 crore by the end of 1998-99. Its sanction's have reached Rs794.34 crore in the beginning of March 1999. It has already sanctioned Rs270 crore for housing and Rs135 crore for infrastructure schemes to Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd. The provision of an additional equity of Rs281 crore in the Budget for 1999-2000 will enable the company to support delivery of 1.5 million houses each year. (khr)

HUDCO LOAN SANCTIONS CROSS Rs5,000-CRORE MARK

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) has sanctioned loans over Rs5000 crore to urban infrastructure projects. It has sanctioned Rs5282.47 crore to 619 projects involving a total project cost of Rs10,125 crore as on July 31, 1998. It has sanctioned Rs11,920 crore to housing projects with a total cost of Rs19,127 crore. It has sanctioned Rs2153 crore to water supply projects with a total cost of Rs4671 crore. (khr)
