Hicks Muse to purchase Hillsdown for $752 million

Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Inc. have reached an agreement to purchase Hillsdown Holdings PLC for 464 million pound sterling ($752 million). Hillsdown is a furniture, poultry, and food concern based in the UK. The deal represents Hicks Muse's most aggressive move in Europe ever. Hicks Muse also announced that it will take responsibility for Hillsdown's financial debts of $463.5 million.

Bain Capital is in talks to buy TI unit

Bain Capital Inc. of the United States is in advanced negotiations to acquire Texas Instruments Inc. also of the United States for approximately $2.5 billion. The financial services company is still haggling with the sensors-and-controls company over price. If the acquisition goes through it will be one of the largest technology company buyouts of the year.

Hicks Muse sells Pinnacle Foods
