Hong Kong's tax aversions
Article Abstract:
In the recent budget speech, Hong Kong's financial secretary, Henry Tang, promised some tax cuts as anticipated by the business community, but he did not give any firm commitment about sales tax. The business community in Hong Kong has always been in favor of indirect taxation like sales tax, which is a way to pass on taxes to the consumers. They expect that such taxation will do away with the need for directly taxation. In this context, the proposal of legendary tycoon, Lawrence Kadoorie is also discussed.
