The hot drinks market in Belgium may be divided into coffee, chocolate beverages and tea. Of the three, coffee has 88% of the volume sales followed by chocolate drinks and tea, respectively. Meanwhile, volume sales grew by 7.8% between 1988-1992 to 71,000 tonnes or 15.5 billion Belgian francs. The market, which is expected to grow to 17 billion Belgian francs, is dominated by Sara Lee DE, Nestle, Unilever, Jacobs-Suchard and Rombouts.

The 1990-1994 alcoholic drinks business in the Slovak Republic, primarily beer, wine and spirits, indicated that in 1994, consumer purchases of alcoholic drinks hit Ks 14.8 billion, and the alcoholic drinks market reached Ks 10.3 billion. Beer sales comprised 42% of the market in terms of value and 81% of the market in terms of volume in 1994. Wine and spirits sales are declining by volume, and losing market share by value and volume.
