Hun Sen blocks Cambodia's path to justice
Article Abstract:
Prime Minister Hun Sen's frequent reversal of his policy towards the conduct of trials against surviving members of the Khmer Rouge is obstructing the implementation of justice in post-communist Cambodia. Hun Sen called on the UN for help on investigating the genocide and other crimes committed against some two million Cambodians in 44 months of tyranny. However, Hun Sen changed his mind and insisted on conducting the trials in a Cambodian court once "Ta" Mok and Kang Khek Ieu were captured.
