Article Abstract:
The Hungarian Army is using the IH-95 lightweight radiation detector for its contingent in Bosnia. The IH-95, developed by Gamma Technical Corp, can measure gamma radiation dose and doserate, alpha and beta surface contamination and beta concentration in food and water. It can function as a dosimeter and as a contamination meter, when in its carrying case or removed from the case, respectively. Gamma also produces an aerial radiation detection unit which can be fitted into an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Digitization hits a rocky road
Article Abstract:
The battlefield digitization process has been painfully-slow for armed forces around the world, as budgetary constraints and program implementation concerns continue to block armies' efforts to integrate digital technology into their military missions. The Army of France is achieving slow progress in its efforts to create a new regimental digitization system, while Canada has hired Computing Devices Canada at the end of 1997 to handle the battalion-and-below Situation Awareness System's software-and-hardware implementation requirements. Budgetary constraints prevent nations, such as Sweden, the Netherlands and France, from pursuing their battlefield digitization initiatives, while the US Army has adopted a spiral approach to the digitization of its battlefield operations.
