INDO-GULF MULLS SEPARATE Co FOR COPPER PROJECT JETTY
Article Abstract:
Indo Gulf Corporation (IGC) is thinking hiving off its Rs250 crore jetty at its Birla Copper project at Dahej in Gujarat into a separate company and is scouting for an international partner to pick up equity in the jetty project. IGC is holding talks with management consultancy firm, KPMG Peat Marwick, among other consultancy firms, to help it arrive at a capital structure for the jetty as well as negotiate with prospective partners. IGC wants a partner who is experienced in port and jetty management. The equity structure for the project is yet to be worked out and there are signs that the Birlas are not particular about picking up a majority stake in the project. The jetty is being set up to enable IGC to import copper concentrate, rock phosphate and coal for use at its Birla copper project. It will also enable IGC to export phosphoric acid. The jetty has a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes. (tsm)
