Improved ATC radar for USN carriers
Article Abstract:
Telephonics Corp has been awarded a contract, valued at $3.6 million to upgrade the air traffic control performance on US Navy aircraft carriers and amphibious landing ships. The New York-based company will have to modernize on-board surveillance capabilities by upgrading aircraft identification and radar data processing hardware and software. The initial order is for three systems to equip the carriers USS Dwight D Eisenhower and USS Theofore Roosevelt, plus one for the Naval Air warfare Center Aircraft Division.

Mechem Consultants was awarded a contract by the Humanitarian Demining Office, which is within the US Army Communications-Electronics Command's NIght Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate. The company has been tasked to conduct a comparative testing of the South Africa company's Mechem Explosive and Drug Detection System and the Fluorescence Impersonating Dog Olfaction system developed by Nomadics.
