Article Abstract:
Asian banks will have to implement strong and immediate action to ensure short term and long term survival in light of the Asian currency crisis. Banks would have to separate 'good banks' from 'bad banks' as well as day-to-day operations from crisis management operations. Banks would also have to introduce rigorous financial analysis on loans, invest heavily in sophisticated computer systems and improve customer service even in light of cost control activities.
