Index policies for the maintenance of a collection of machines by a set of repairmen

Article Abstract:

Using simple machine indices, a machines maintenance policy is developed for a multiple machines environment to ensure that costly breakdowns are reduced. One of the constraints is that repairmen may also perform other tasks besides maintenance of these machines. Markov decision process is used for scheduling the maintenance interventions.
