Institute calls halt to internal debate after DG's survival
Article Abstract:
A special meeting of the RIBA concerning Alex Reid's directorship seems to have united it and brought to a close a period of internal argument, that had affected its external programmes. Reid responded to a variety of charges concerning money, personnel management, charging for services, treatment of members and regional policy, and a call to dismiss him was defeated by 39 votes to 10. He claimed that the appointment of new education director Chris Colbourne did not contradict RIBA rules, and president elect David Rock felt that such issues would not arise again if the spirit of the special meeting continued.
