Is advertising a signal of product quality? Evidence from the compact disc player market, 1983 - 1992
Article Abstract:
Panel data on advertising and pricing in the compact disc player market between 1983 and 1992 is analyzed to determine that advertising increases after a compact disc player is released, although at a decreasing rate. Another determination made is that prices fall increasingly after introduction.
