The table ranks the leading 35 Czech banks based on capital in millions of Czech korunas as of year-end 1997. The top Czech bank is Komercni banka a.s., which posted 35,214 million korunas in capital in 1997, -1% difference from 1996 figures. Ceska sporitelna a.s. ranked second with 21,850 million korunas in 1997 capital, registering a 6% rise over 1996 figures. Ceskoslovenska obchodni banka a.s. was No. 3 with 21,449 million korunas in 1997 capital that reflects a 21% increase from its 1996 capital. The list compiled by Resources s.r.o. also includes information on 1997 loans; 1997 assets; net profits in 1997; return on assets; CEO, and address.

The list ranks the top 22 Slovak banks by capital in millions of Slovak korunas as of year-end 1997. Slovenska sporitelna a.s. ranks No. 1 with 1997 capital of 6,487 million korunas, registering a 5% rise from its capital 1996. The second-highest bank is Vseobecna uverova banka a.s. with 3,795 million korunas in 1997 capital that posted a 1% change from 1996 figures. Tatra banka a.s. ranks third with 2,567 million korunas in 1997 capital that reflects a 48% rise over 1996 figures. The list compiled by Resource s.r.o. included information on 1997 loans; 1997 profits, and return on assets on CEER's estimates based on net profit/total assets.
