The Jordan Ministry of Energy has launched an invitation to tender for the construction of a 100 megaWatts to 300 megaWatts electrical power station fueled by oil shale. This project will be developed on the basis of Build, Own, and Operate (BOO). In order be selected, the company must be set up and registered in Jordan. The deadline for bids is 31 May 2001. INDIA: CONSTRUCTION OF A SOLAR POWER STATION

The Punjab Energy Development Agency has issued an invitation to tender for the construction and starting up, and ten years of maintenance, of a solar power station at Bajack in the Bathinda district. KENYA: OLKARIA 2 CONTRACT AWARDED

KenGen (Kenya Electricity Generating Company) and the German company KFW will finance the construction of the Olkaria 2 geothermal power station for KenGen in Kenya. The construction contract for this project, estimated at US$ 20.9mn, has been awarded to NKK Corp., Marubeni Corp., and Zakhem Corp.
