JUICED UP
Article Abstract:
Mr Tulsi Goyal, managing director of Enkay Texofood has been successful in launching Onjus, India's first 100 percent pure tetrapacked orange drink. Mr Goyal who had plans of launching tetrapacked fruit juices settled on orange juice as there was a need to attract attention and that there was a gap in the orange juice market. Initially, Mr Goyal focused on Mumbai, Pune and Delhi for launching the product. He decided to control production in order to maintain the quality and the credibility of the brand instead of waiting for the franchisees. MR Goyal chalked an advertisement budget of Rs23 lakh for Onjus and hired Ambience Advertising for promoting the product. He then focused on availability, taste and affordability (ATA) concept and priced the product at Rs10 for a 250 ml pack. This enabled Onjus to post sales of Rs15 crore which Mr Goyal proposes to raise to Rs75 crore by 2000 AD. Onjus has sold over 40 million packs since launch and has cornered 34 percent of the market. The tetrapacking capacity has been raised to 240,000 packs of 250 ml per day. Mr Goyal plans to focus on market expansion and product penetration during 1998. (ag)
