Japanese voters should remove the scandal-plagued Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) from power in the next election. The LDP has ruled Japan as a one-party state since 1955, due to its ability to attract large sums of money, often illegally, from business interests.

The Tokyo metropolitan government in fighting Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto's plan to move the capital to another city. Tokyo had allocated $2.6m to fund an advertising campaign aimed at stopping the move.
