Jasper Johns: The Sculptures
Article Abstract:
The sculptures of Jasper Johns, who is better known for his drawings, prints and paintings, are currently being exhibited at the City Art Gallery, Leeds, England. These are mainly pre-existing objects, but have been sculpted in such a way that they are estranged from their real function. They clearly display the sculptor's sense of 'touch,' showing a highly worked surface. They reflect his interest in logical procedures and in art as a means of investigation.
