Bridgestone's tires face safety evaluation

On September 11, 2000 Yoichiro Kaizaki, CEO of Bridgestone Corp. broke his silence over the recall of 6.5 million tires by the company's U.S. subsidiary, Bridgestone Firestone. He refused to accept blame for the accidents involving Firestone tires and promised to support the Firestone brand. His actions were consistent with his way of dealing with previous crises in the company.

Firestone to close U.S. plant that produced recalled tires
