Key China fund gets pickier
Article Abstract:
Despite the successes of Chinese equity funds in the middle of the ongoing financial troubles in its Asian neighbors, investors and fund managers have remained cautious about investing. The Chinese sector was able to post a 79% growth rate in the fiscal year ending September 1997. While investors expect increased volatility in the markets, the GT PRC Fund is forecasting neither an abrupt drop nor a significant increase in rates for the next months.

Wider rating for China fund raises eyebrows after close look at brackets
Article Abstract:

Greater China Fund's selection as the top regional fund illustrates the prevailing lackluster performance of the Asian mutual fund sector. It also shows the importance of China and Hong Kong as mutual fund investment areas.
