Investing in Poland and the Czech Republic: the experience so far
Article Abstract:
A survey investigated UK companies which had invested in Poland and the Czech Republic to establish reasons for investment, the methods of investment, and to highlight any problems. The survey revealed that the economic climate and the market size were significant factors in the choice to invest in these countries. Most companies find the high level of bureaucracy to be a problem and, whilst companies expressed satisfaction with local labour, the lack of marketing and management skills is a significant difficulty.

Competition and regulation in the electricity industry
Article Abstract:
Recent research has looked at the different approaches adopted by the UK government to competition and regulation in the four stages of the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI), covering power generation, transmission, distribution and supply. It was found that privatisation has certainly ensured that the electricity industry is now more responsive to market forces. Efficiency has improved, but benefits have not always been passed on to customers.
